HOw we keep children safe at Queen's croft
At Queens Croft High School, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive and respectful environment where all children feel protected, valued and listened to.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff, governors, volunteers and visitors share a culture of vigilance and are trained to recognise concerns, take action promptly and always act in the best interests of the child. Staff receive regular safeguarding training and follow statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.
The school has a trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSLs who oversee safeguarding arrangements, manage concerns and work closely with parents and external agencies when needed. Clear reporting systems are in place to ensure concerns are recorded, monitored and acted upon quickly.
We use safer recruitment practices, including enhanced DBS checks, to ensure that all adults working with children are suitable for their role. Our governing body provides strong safeguarding oversight and reviews policies and procedures regularly.
Children are taught how to keep themselves safe through the curriculum, including PSHE, online safety, healthy relationships, mental health awareness and understanding risks both online and in the community. Pupils know who they can speak to if they are worried and are reassured that they will always be taken seriously.
We work in partnership with parents and carers and with safeguarding agencies to provide the right help at the right time, ensuring every child is supported to achieve the best possible outcomes.
