Supporting Families at Queens Croft High School
At Queens Croft High School, we recognise that families may experience challenges at different times. We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to offer early support, practical guidance and clear signposting to help families feel supported and listened to.
How we support families in school
Our Inclusion and Family Support Team provides a welcoming, non‑judgemental point of contact for families who may be struggling. The team works closely with pupils, parents and external agencies to provide timely support and early intervention. Support includes:
- Advice and guidance around attendance and wellbeing
- Early Help referrals and support to access services
- Welfare checks and ongoing family support
- Help with housing, benefits and practical concerns
- Bereavement and emotional support
- Support with communication at home, including resources such as Makaton and visual aids
- Liaison with health services, social care, education welfare and other professionals
- Co‑ordinating care and health plans alongside the NHS nursing team.
Families can speak to school staff at any point if they are worried or need support, and we will work together to identify the right help at the right time.

Staffordshire Connects
Staffordshire Connects is an online directory that helps families find local support services. Parents and carers can use it to:
- Search for Early Help services
- Find parenting programmes and support groups
- Access SEND information and advice
- Locate health, wellbeing and community services
This is a useful starting point for families who are unsure what support is available or where to begin.
Early Help
Early Help is about supporting children and families early, before difficulties become bigger problems. It focuses on giving families the right help, at the right time, in the right place and works best when families and professionals work together.
Early Help can support families with:
- Emotional wellbeing or mental health
- Parenting or behaviour concerns
- School attendance or learning worries
- Family changes, stress or relationship difficulties
- Health, SEND, housing or financial pressures
Support may include advice and guidance, parenting programmes, family support groups, one‑to‑one help or links to local Family Hubs and community services. Many services are free and voluntary.
How school can help:
School staff can listen to concerns, offer support, help access Early Help services and work with families as part of a wider support plan.
Schools play a key role in Early Help. We will:
- Listen to concerns raised by parents and carers
- Work with families to identify strengths and needs
- Offer support in school or signpost to local services
- Help with Early Help referrals where appropriate
- Continue to work with families as part of a wider support plan
How parents can access early help:
- Speak to a member of school staff
- Contact local Family Hubs
- Find services through Staffordshire Connects
- Call Staffordshire Children’s Advice and Support Service on 0300 111 8007
Early Help is about working with families, building on strengths and helping children thrive.
